Eleven (Eleven), real name Jane Hopper and played on screen by actress Millie Bobby Brown, was introduced in 2016 when the series launched. Born with exceptional telepathic and telekinetic abilities inherited from experiments on the MKUltra project, she spends her childhood sequestered at the Hawkins National Laboratory under the tutelage of Dr Martin Brenner. Her escape coincided with the accidental opening of the portal to the Upside Down World, making her the only bulwark capable of closing these gaps and repelling the assaults of the Demogorgon or Vecna.
